Dr. Herbert Tsang (曾浩斌) is currently the music director and conductor of the SINFONIA MOSAIC and he has been directing thePortMoody Pacific GraceMBChurchWorship Choir since 1998. Currently, Tsang is the president of Church Music Ministry of Canada. Tsang was the Dean of Chinese Christian Church Music Institute for Worship (Canada), in which he is providing leadership for strategic development for CCCMIW inCanada (2006-2008). He also served as the founding music director of David C. Lam Christian Hymn Society from 2002-2007. During 2007, Tsang was appointed as one of eight Tanglewood II Symposium Scholars. This symposium brings together distinguished international scholars to cultivate a new understanding of music learning for the 21st Century. Tsang travels widely as guest conductor, lecturer and clinician. Tsang's areas of interest include choral and instrumental conducting, the history of Christian worship, worship practices in various denominations, biblical and systematic theology of worship, the role of music and the arts in worship, and consulting with churches on worship renewal.
Dr. Tsang holds degrees from Southern Illinois University, Washington University, and SimonFraserUniversity. Currently, Dr. Tsang is pursuing a Doctor of Worship Studies degree at Institute for Worship Studies and Doctor of Musical Arts degree atBostonUniversity. He also holds Postgraduate Diploma in Theology from Alliance Bible Seminary and Diploma of Sacred Music from the Royal School of Church Music. Additionally studies at theHong KongAcademyfor the Performing Artsand the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
